Reputation

Considering that the Badger series are produced by one of the top appliance manufacturers, it is only natural that it enjoys a good reputation among customers. However, this particular model did not manage to get more than 4 out 5 stars. One explanation for the rating resides in the fact that many customers feel than the 2-year warranty as well as the low price are signs of low quality.

Besides being a green solution, this waste disposer also packs an excellent grinding capability at a very affordable price. All in all, it is an efficient product and it is worth checking out!

Comments

  1. My badger 5 came installed with the purchase of our new home. We use it on a regular basis but never abuse it. Unfortunately it broke down after 4 years with the frequency of use that we do. This just goes to show that this product is not as good as they say. Not worth the money if you ask me.

  2. Cromaxgal says:

We purchased a badger 5 recently when our 1 HP gave out and after one month it fell out of it’s socket or whatever holds it. The plumber came and reattached it and told us to only use it for cooked foods. HELLO….we want to use it for everyday stuff, like carrot peelings and orange peels and apple cores, etc. Then 10 days ago, something came lose inside the disposal and now it sounds like it’s chewing nails and we stopped using the garbage disposal. Total waste of money and we are buying a different brand next time.

  3. Going on 10 years, no issues at all. We always make sure to run water when grinding, and only operate it long enough to do the job. No difference since day one, other than replacing the splash baffle, and they now have a snap in model.

  4. My uncle, a plumber, says if it wasn’t for garbage disposals he wouldn’t have a job. His main contention is that food scraps are not being scraped off the plates into the trash/garbage can first. …kinda wondering why anyone would PURPOSELY put bones, apple cores etc in a garbage disposal to ultimately have to go to a water treatment plant.
